Broadway Village Design Statement (VDS) 2008
The 2008 Broadway VDS was prepared by a sub-group appointed by the Parish Council and headed by Derek Wakelin. Its content was based upon local consultation through public meetings, questionnaires and widespread publicity in the Village Newsletter, this Website and in the local press.
A Village Design Statement, established by the Countryside Commission in 1996, provides the community with the opportunity to state their views and to influence the planning decisions made locally and nationally that might affect the future of a village.
Its major objectives are:

After consideration and approval by the Parish Council, the Statement has now been formally adopted by Wychavon District Council and forms a local information document that will inform future planning and development decisions.

Broadway Parish Plan 2005-2006
In early 2005, a small group of volunteers coordinated development of the Broadway village Parish Plan, as recommended by the then Countryside Agency. The intent of a Parish Plan is to better represent the intentions of a village and its residents before planning authorities and other regulatory agencies. It also feeds into a Village Design Statement, which lays out more sprecific guidance to those same bodies.
Open surveys were sent to individuals, clubs and businesses throughout the area, yielding nearly 750 forms and over 3,900 individual responses. This feedback was distilled, categorised and finally collated into the Broadway Parish Plan document, available in electronic form below.
Categories included Community, Environment, Roads and Footpaths, Events, Parking, Shops, and Sports Facilities. The idea is for this plan to help guide local authorities and other bodies when making decisions that affect the village: its residents, businesses, visitors and heritage.
Led by a Steering Group of community volunteers, the effort was apolitical, being funded through central government and generous donations from the local businesses.
