Tips
- Put a minus sign at the beginning of a word to exclude it from your
search: -exclude
- Put your search terms in quotes to search for the literal string:
"like
this"
- Use an asterisk as a wildcard to represent any word:
Stratford-*-Avon would find both Stratford-on-Avon and
Stratford-upon-Avon, while "to * * * to be" would
find a suitable Shakespearean quote.
- Search will automatically exclude very common words (a, about, are, at,
by, from, I, in, of, how, la, that, the, this, to, will, who, what, where, and
when). To make sure these are included in your search, either put a plus sign
before the word you want or put the words in quotes as above:
+The Stones or "The Stones"
- You can search for two alternatives using the word OR or the symbol |:
restaurants Broadway|Childswickham
You can, of course, combine these to good effect. Looking for somewhere to
stay in a town near here, but don't like pubs? Try something like this:
hotel|"bed and breakfast" evesham|stratford-*-avon -pub.
It goes without saying, though, that this is only an example, and we'd much rather you came to stay
a little closer!
